I loved being involved in the WLS. I came as a speaker but left also as a participant - how could one not, given all the valuable resources in the audience and on the stage?!! We are always better for reaching out for new information and listening to those who have experience past our own years and this forum was one of the best!
- Chris Voelz, Leadership Gifts Officer, Women's Sports Foundation
When I attended my first symposium, I was determining whether to attend to graduate school to pursue my degree in sport administration so that I could follow the administrative route. The advice from the people I met there was influential in my pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletic administration and achieving my dream to positively affect young student athletes.
- Amanda Fark, Graduate Student, Ohio University
When I attended the WLS in 2005, I was just transitioning from undergrad to grad school to study sport and recreation administration. I had decided that athletics was the career path I wanted to take based on my experiences as a student-athlete. The symposium was a great tool for me to hear from women in the field and hear their experiences. It was a great way for me to learn about the different areas within athletics and get a feel for where I wanted to go. Now that I have finished my master's and have a full-time job, I would love to attend another one so that I can do the same for up and coming women in the field.
-Lynn Newson, Compliance Assistant, Northern Arizona University
This was my first time attending WLS. It was very worthwhile and gave me a chance to interact with others in the athletics world and an opportunity to hear some top-notch speakers. I was very impressed by the workshops and the presenters.

Here's more comments from the WLS Chicago (May, 2009):
Great Conference. Interesting topics, fantastic networking. A very positive experience. I enjoyed the symposium very much! Thank you for providing this great learning and networking event.
I really enjoyed the whole event. This was my first time attending and I am glad that the University sent me. I loved being able to network and learn more about College athletics and women in general. I have always loved sports and have wanted to continue in this avenue for a career. The symposium opened my eyes to many opportunities for women in college athletics.
This was truly a fantastic experience, and to be able to take part in this as an undergraduate student was even better!
This was my first symposium and I truly enjoyed it. I returned to my campus pumped about my experience and ready to get more women to join me an attend the next WLS.
I am still in awe of the wonderful presenters and participants I had the chance to meet at the Symposium. It was inspiring to see how dedicated the participants and the facilitators were to creating a better future for young female athletes. I will do my best to contribute to these efforts. Thank you.
